About the artwork

The creature exudes an aura of tranquility, embodying a paradoxical combination of serenity and underlying anxiety. It occupies a static state within an abstract realm, reluctant to engage in any movement. The muscles still tingle and the body maintains a residual warmth, yet is entrapped in a stillness that defies motion. What remains is a gentle vibration – a presence suspended in time. Surrounded by the overwhelming fluctuations of existence, the enveloping void of this ethereal space provides a sanctuary for the beast to inhale deeply and reclaim its composure. This moment invites introspection, accentuating the importance to pause and reflect amidst the turmoil of external stimuli and the overall chaos of emotion

My concepts revolve around the intricate interplay of human emotions—particularly the complex feelings of one's self worth, self acceptance and the dynamic balance of vulnerability and resilience we as individuals possess. Through the symbolism of the bull, I explore how we interact, react to and live alongside our powerful emotions. Inspired by it's strong visual presence I document my emotional experiences through this creature, which I perceive as a form of an alter ego

Stefanie Hudspeth is an academic painter. Born in Vancouver, Canada, raised in Dubrovnik, Croatia. She earned her high school diploma at the Art High School Luka Sorkočević in Dubrovnik. She continued her academic education and earned her BFA in Fine Arts Studio at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. After returning to Croatia, she completed her MFA in Painting under the guidance of artist Duje Jurić at the University of Fine Arts in Zagreb. She has taken part in two solo shows and numerous group exhibitions in Rochester, Los Angeles, Zagreb and Dubrovnik. Her concepts are inspired by the aesthetic of the human and animal forms. They serve as mediums and aid her in producing extensions of her inner dispositions. Through topics of self-image and self-expression, she aims to honestly portray the ever-changing passions of the human condition. The recurring shape of the bull provides a consistent source of inspiration in the majority of her works
