Srećko excels in working with color. The composition of colors is his main subject and motif, no matter where it leads—into something more abstract or more figurative. It’s all about the colors for him. Everything else is secondary to the colors
Croatian contemporary artist, painter, colorist. Born in 1962 in Split, Croatia. After finishing high school of art, he has graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Split
(painting in class of prof. Ivan Krstulović, sculpture in class of Kažimir Hraste and Aleksandar Midžor, graphics in the class of Petar Jakelić). While still a student, he had his first significant exhibition in the former Museum of the Revolution (today the Museum of Fine Arts), entitled Colors of the Netherlands, where he presented himself with about forty larger-format oil paintings, created after his stay in the Netherlands and the strong coloristic impressions he brought with him. This exhibition was followed by other, numerous solo and group exhibitions, a total of 35 to date, from the Galić Salon in Split (solo and group), to the exhibition at the Maison Rouge Gallery in Chicago in 2006. His paintings were donated for many humanitarian purposes, especially during the war in Croatia from 1991 to 1995. He finds a painterly interest in colors, expression in the oil technique, often on very large formats. You can see Žitnik's paintings in Split and private collections all over the world. A member of the Croatian Association of Fine Artist (HULU) Split for more than 20 years. He lives and works in Split
