About the artwork

The form in its basic shape is a reduced head made of terracotta or porcelain. This reduction is a representation of a much larger reduction, one that can be connected to our everyday life and global events. Reduction can simultaneously show how abstracted life is in terms of distance from the human essence and how much the need to study the details of a specific personality is simultaneously reduced. New forms are added to this shape in the form of paint, engobe and glaze. These new forms metaphorically represent how today’s need for beautification and refinement simultaneously enriches the personality but also masks it. It is a reference to a diverse identity that, through digital media, does not refer to the features of what it is, but to an imposed and false representation that is desired in order to create an image of perfection

In his artistic work, Edo explores the medium of sculpture and painting at its meta levels, materializing its processuality, performativity, and multiple relations that the medium associates with different value systems. He sometimes summerizes the experession in pure content or in forms inspired by the flow of consciousness and introspection
